This is an ongoing restoration project for ourselves here at RTT. Kawasaki KX 250 B1 was discovered at an auction held in Scotland, and it was 80% complete and original (even though it was in poor condition ). We decided to do a full nut and bolt restoration to keep another iconic MX motorcycle alive and bring back its pure joy of it.
When we first started working on Kawasaki KX 250 bike, we encountered many hurdles that included parts availability. First of all, it was never officially imported to the UK in the first place, and then the majority of parts are no longer in stock. On such projects, time and constant research is the key.
We put every reusable element in, replating every fastener, having rebuilt crankcases, repaired crankcases, and various new parts on the market, such as pistons, con rod bearings, etc. They were replaced due to wear and tear and to ensure they would be in perfect condition when completed.
The frame has been completely restored to its original glossy black, with the seat reupholstered in OEM design; the plastics come from America,
We are currently working on the wheel rims because they had 21″ rear and 18″ rear wheels made of gold anodize and other things, such as spokes we are creating using stainless. The tyres will have in the traditional style of the time.
